The intentionality and esoteric characteristics of Christ is evident in his relationship with the supernatural. Through expression and cultural practices, the life of Christ was the early Christian phenomenon that embraced the implication of cosmology. “Cosmic Christ” (Noone, 2020) emphasizes his relationship to creation that “extends beyond the compass of earthly humans and includes the whole cosmos” (Noone, 2020). Foreseeing, revelation, and having connection with the divine were concealed forms of communication in which he “reveals his expansive cosmic compass” (Noone, 2020). In essence, “prophetism” conveys divine authority, being connected to God, and sharing cosmology with existence beyond Earth. Prayer, fasting, and purification are essential to the conditions of divine possession, where supernatural contact arises and speaks through the vessel. The significance of God and cosmic experience is imperative to comprehend as it essentially decreed the life Christ as a universal symbolism of rebirth. Compared to the western liturgy, Eastern Orthodox tradition is “much more conscious of the participation by the whole” in relationship to the “incarnate God- Christ” (Noone, 2020). The cognitive significance of divine connection involves a culmination with spirit, soul transcendence beyond the customary baptismal rite. Teilhard de Chardin, a Jesuit paleontologist and mystic reverences “evolution as a holy, purposive and orderly process in which the cosmos moves beyond material development towards an increasing complexity, spirituality and consciousness” (Noone, 2020). Christ is the appropriation of incarnation that extends life through the dualism of spiritual grace and physical nature. “A doctrine of redemption is meaningful only when it swings within the larger orbit of creation” (Noone, 2020). The exceptional purification of Christ confirmed his vision of God, the hearing of a voice and a spirit that remained on him (John 1:32, NASB). It is in our quest for knowledge and understanding of self that compels us to explore the cosmic nature of God. I encourage the narrative of Christ that instigates the context of healing and miracles that embody a ritualistic nature.
